There is no white grape variety more famous in the world than Chardonnay. However, few know that it is present in the Rhône Valley. It is cultivated in the Châtillon-en-Diois appellation, producing supple white wines.

In the vineyards

Bunch and berries: Relatively thin-skinned berries

Maturity: Early-budding and early-ripening

Characteristics: Relatively easy to cultivate, but sensitive to spring frost and powdery mildew

Terroir: Clay-limestone soils, with a good water reserve

Characteristics: Chardonnay is a versatile grape variety by nature. In Diois, it produces supple, round white wines, with notes of white flowers and a mineral structure on the palate.
