Also called Maccabeu in Roussillon, Viura in Rioja, or more generally Macabeo in Spain, Macabeu is only present in AOC Costières de Nîmes. It brings volume to the blends.

Bunch and berries: Large, compact clusters, pyramid-shaped; edium-sized berries with thick skin, juicy and sweet flesh.
Maturity: Late-budding and late-ripening
Terroir: Dry, hot soils
In the cellars
Characteristics: Macabeu is a non-aromatic grape variety. Its whies are delicate, with low acidity and a straw-colored appearance.
